Cleaning Records with steam or hot water

I sink wash used, dirty records with hot water coming from a spray nozzle. As others have said, they warp and then return to shape. New records just get dusted if necessary. And yes, a RCM is on my wish list, and coming to the top soon.
 
So, if a guy were so dumb as to have all of his record collection leaning on each other against the book shelf at a 60 deg. angle for years, and they all warped from all of their combined weight, they could be rescued by boiling and then laying them on a flat surface?
 
It shouldn't be too much of a problem finding an audio shop in LA, NYC or any other major city that would demo a RCM. Bring in a couple records you'v already cleaned in the sink, SpinClean etc and get them cleaned on a RCM. The improvement after cleaning on a RCM would convince just about anyone that their prior methods were insufficent to do the task of cleaning a record.
 
Well friends, Here I am, reviving an old topic

I always wash my LPs with cotton and neutral kitchen detergent, and occasionally with a double wash. I have several records that appear to be new, but when I play them, I hear some crackling noises during playback, which negatively interferes if you are looking for the quality of vinyl. If I use a vacuum cleaner (Nitty Gritty, RCM...) to clean these records, would many of these crackling noises probably disappear? Thanks.
