Clear acrylic cover for your amp

StereoSquares, the place I bought my TT cover, posted a couple pics of a custom cover for a Marantz 2226b on its Facebook page. Interesting alternative to wood and metal.

Interesting, wonder though if the metal covers provide any interference protection that might be lacking with acrylic.
 
That's a thought. Also, not sure of the resonance/damping issues with acrylic - whether it is better or worse. If I had something worth showing off I would have to look into all of those items - or possibly use the original metal cover for serious listening.
 
I like it. I like wood. I like metal.

What's next?

How about stained glass or some type of rock such as granite? Both would need to be reinforced of course.
 
Heated lead joins in a stained-glass amp... I wouldn't want to be breathing in the same room! :no:

thinking that an illuminated extract fan neatly incorporated to help airflow out of the amp would 'pimp' it even more:scratch2::D
 
I see that **** all day every day. When it's done, I want to look at look at stained and finished wood, by God.
 
I've built several computers for customers using acrylic cases. It looks cool for awhile, then static electricity attracts dust like a super magnet! And since it accumulates on the inside its a real pain to clean. Glass might be better.
 
Some things look better covered up. This is one of them. Kinda like wiring and insulating a room and then not covering it; :thumbsdn:.
 
I want the shielding a metal case provides. I can't stand the buzzing at 60 or 120 hz. I will say that is a nicely executed piece of work.
 
the clear acrylic and the silver faceplate a terrible combination. it would look much better with a black faceplate unit.
 
Maybe it won't draw as much dust as a computer since it does not have the airflow a computer has. I agree with the workmanship. Stereosquares has made two custom TT covers for me and the workmanship has been excellent.

I am not sure if it performs better than wood or metal - just thought it looked interesting. It's not something you see everyday.

I like it. When my Sansui catches fire again I can admire the glow. Probably a pretty good/steep price on that cover though.
