Complete Pioneer system pushed by SX-1250

I’m new to this Forum. I have a Pioneer system I got from my dad. He bought it brand new in the mid to late 70’s. Receiver is a SX-1250, turntable is a PL-530, tape console is a CT-F7272 and I have 4 HP-100’s. The quality of sound is unreal. All are in great working order. What would a complete set like this be worth?

$2300 to $2800 was my estimate...
 
A small pile of cash. a grand plus,easy. Depends on how much folks have to have those speakers.

sx-1250 is the best pioneer receiver made and half of the world loves pioneer so you have added value there.
 
For a range look at SOLD listings on ebay.

HP-100s are either 100W or 200W, fthe 200W have silver rings around the bass port and are slightly more desirable, worth $300 for a decent working pair, more if excellent.

The turntable I believe is around $150, depends on condition also and cartridge and needle quality and condition, a very desirable cartridge can add significantly.

The cassette deck I don't know anything.

The SX-1250 is very condition dependent. Perfect cosmetics and fully restored over $2,000. A normal working unrestored with no significant cosmetic problems and nothing more than maybe a crackle in the volume pot is still $1,000+

Best to look at ebay sold listings, realize that this is adding the international market of ebay and local sales are significantly less, and be brutally honest when comparing condition / restoration / history.

Oh, and if you have manuals and boxes, big bonus in value, people love buying original owner gear with boxes and manuals.
 
I'd keep the system!

But if you put it on Ebay or Facebook Marketplace, priced at $1800, FIRM......it would be gone in a day or 2....

Agreed that it depends on the cartridge, however regardless of that I think you're low by at least $100 just to hit the low end of the sold range. There are recent completed sales on ebay in the $250 to $300 range with no mention of what cartridge is on it.

One sold for $270 with "I cannot offer a guarantee as to how long this will continue to work. No guarantees whatsoever. Sold as non working due to age and the fact that anything can happen." in the description.
 
Thanks for the correction, I'm a 2-time 1250 owner and fairly confident on the HPM-100s (although conservative), need lots of help with the decks though.
 
One thing I can't understand and that is the moment someone gives another something, the first thing that comes to their mind is how much can I make out of this situation. It's just downright disrespectful IMHO.

The above statement couldn't be anymore accurate.......... "There will come a time memories will be more valuable than money"

Money isn't everything, it certainly can help, but it won't buy you your health or memories.
 
Keep it!! My dad got rid of his tube based stereo gear long before i was attending high school so i can't say i miss it but it would of been great to have. We share many interests/hobbies so ill have plenty to deal with in the future but selling it all isn't in the cards.

Have it serviced, put it in your home and enjoy it. Getting turned on to music later in life is a great thing and once its gone you can't get the stuff back.
 
I don't agree with the judgement.

This is a LOT of gear for many people, very large and heavy receiver, two large bookshelf speakers, who knows what else was left behind.

If my son elects to sell all of my stereo gear and keep some small token that means something to him should I die tomorrow, I support his ability to be logical.

I like my 1250, but it's heavy, doesn't fit a normal audio cabinet, and likely won't be here by next spring, ... it isn't the end-all of audio equipment.
 
I don't think asking what something is worth when someone gave it to you necessarily means you are planning to sell it. Since the recipient didn't have to buy it, they may have no idea of its worth. Maybe he wants to add it to his insurance if it's worth a lot. Or he's deciding whether to put it where the kids can get at it, or not. Or whether to let the 13-year-old have a set of HPMs in his room. Lots of reasons for someone to ask. Don't be so judgy.
 
I'm trying not being judgy at all, it's just that this seems to be a trend with members that have a "1" alongside their user ID. It's always about "How much".

Honestly if it's about that why do they constantly come here and waste peoples time when they can simply go to the worlds biggest "Red Book" which is eBay and have a Captain Cook for themselves. To me it just comes across as a self gratification thing of "guess what I've got" ?? and for nothing as well.

If I'm wrong then so be it.
