Nice storage room.

Tonto,

Lots of dough invested there BTLOI, but not much done to make the room sound friendly. The carpet and couch are good, but look at the bare reflective walls and all that glass. If people would acoustically treat their listening rooms their systems, no matter how expensive, all would have a chance to sound better! I guess it is a matter of education.

I never realized how seriously a room 'colors' the sound until I obtained my first set of Altec A-7's and started playing around with them out in the outdoor wilds, deep in Algonquin Park where I was stationed at the time about 12 years ago. Removing room reflections and echo turned that system into the sweetest sound I'd heard in my life until then. I now haul my new speakers outdoors to test them as part of the design analysis. Good thing I live out on a farm.

Rob & Yoder......Teach me to buy a digital camera and take some photos of my modest system for the photo gallery at Audio Asylum......Something that doesn't appear in the photos are some open record storage shelves down each side wall that are 7' h x 10' wide and 1' deep and a back wall that has additional record storage as well as a nice 8' wide bass vent that goes through two other rooms for another 35' or so......Oh, that awful glass is 3/8" and glazed in place and it is much stouter than the walls.....The gear is mostly well over a decade old or it is something I built or designed or highly modified......

That is Stan, the cat......He likes the JC-1 amps we just completed for Parasound as they run just about 50 degrees C, perfect basking temperature.....He and his twin brother Freddy are going to be 17 years old this next April.....

Nice system Bob...and welcome.

As far as rooms go...I'm in the situation with having alotta glass...but what the heck...that's where I like to listen to music...so it stays! We have put up some window treatments tho...and ,of course, it was the wifes idea ;)

While your posting your pics at AA...be great to have ya post it here, in our gallery, ...for all to see.

take care>>>>>

Welcome

RobC,

The more detailed photo that showed up courtesy of Mike reveals some really classy looking equipment in your room. I especially like that anti-vibration pedestal. Those PA's are very impressive looking. You do nice work.

I've heard others claim also that shelves full of records are great wall treatment.

I see you are also a cat lover. I have two myself. Welcome to AK. I'm sure we'd all love to learn more about your stuff and ideas!

Yep, the room was bright until I unpacked a few thousand records that lined the walls.......I had Martin DeWulf here back in March and he took measurements including the windows as I think that room would make a Wave radio sound good as absolutely symmetrical.....Back when I had a real job I bought the Rockport table with the active air suspension and I learned how wonderful that active air suspension can be.....The funny looking stand is a Machina Dynamica that Geoff Kait designed and built using a one point suspension and a gravity servo....Looks funny, but it really works on the transport or it wouldn't be there....I built or rebuilt most everything else....I normally run the system a touch hotter than most would as not as interested in musicality, but getting to the sound of parts and wires quickly....Point is I use the system to voice products.....

I'm looking forward to hear your concepts, and, ideas in the near
future.

Rob,

I commend you for carrying your speakers in the woods, to test its acoustics. By doing just that you've confirmed to me that you are a true audio enthusiast

Best Regards,
