Cover version that you like better than the original?

[petemcfc]

I actually like both versions equally.(same song, slightly different names)

1967 - The Cryan' Shames - The Sailing Ship
2001 - The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Sailor

Good call in the same vein.

[DirtFarmer]

Cortez The Killer by Built To Spill. I love Neil to death, but I think this guitar work is sublime. (if this 20 min video is too long for you, just watch the last 11 minutes or so)

[steven94]

I love Motown but Vanilla Fudge -You Keep Me Hanging On

George Benson

[souljay3]

David gray's take of soft cell's say hello wave goodbye is an absolute belter

[Mystic]

While I like David's original, I like Lemmy's sound more:

[bobsvinyl]

Julie Driscoll with Brian Auger & the Trinity- Season of the Witch.

Julie Driscoll with Brian Auger & the Trinity- Season of the Witch.

Motion seconded!

[petemcfc]

I would say this is better.

And how about this:

[pmsummer]

Heartbreak Hotel
-John Cale

[pmsummer]

It's All Over Now, Baby Blue
– 13th Floor Elevators

[Djcoolray]

The Credence recording of “LIAR” is better than the original Argent recording !!!

[Natitude]

Donavon Frankereiter doing cover of “With a Little Help from my Friends”

[BigElCat]

Next; the improved version.

[Nautiker]

DAMN... Both of those were Excellent! I listened to 'The Real Me' twice - fantastic cover - I would've sung myself hoarse had I been in the crowd...

[Nautiker]

Radney Foster doing some classic Merle Haggard...

[grillebilly]

Originally a Jonathan Richman "song". As much as I adore him, the original is barely listenable.
