I love the original HK finish. Bad move IMO. Besides, if you want top dollar, you have to go with Carver Maroon.

If they have Peerless 16309 outputs I would avoid for that price. With 16458s, another story.

The transformer numbers are both ever so artfully scratched/damaged on the output transformers. Kinda strange, as right now there are five of these babies in the house, and not a one has a single marr or scratch on the Peerless label on the output transformer on any amp here, but damaged on both these CL amps.

I can't even get two fingers into the area the label faces(the smaller statured choke), and there is nothing you need to access or work on above the deck. The only way these labels can get buggered is by passing something though, or in this case from above. But who puts something on or above an output transformer? Really, really strange that the most important label that establishes value on these amps has been identically defaced at some point over the years.

I got a ride in one, once. I was at work and it belonged to a client, so I didn't have much choice. I asked him why he had a yellow one, and he said when he was choosing the color, his wife told him she knew he wanted a yellow one, so he should just get a yellow one and 'don't be a pussy.' So he did.
