Crazy for thinking about selling my ADS L1530 speakers??

I was fortunate enough to aquire a pair of ADS L1530's awhile back from I believe the original owner. The speakers were in pretty good shape, but needed a few things- mostly cosmetic.

Anyways, I have thoroughly enjoyed these speakers, currently running off a restored Marantz receiver. First time I auditioned these speakers with some Miles Davis on vinyl, my daughter actually emotionally weeped from the moving experience haha. They are that good and create a total immersive audio experience.

My problem is space limitations, they are sort of taking over my downstairs den listening space, and I don't think my wife was ever really crazy about the size of these speakers. I think I'm hooked on the ADS sound, so maybe I need to start the hunt for a pair of smaller versions- L810's maybe??

I have found a downsized speaker that sounds great and the two in our group that I know have good ears also like them. I let go of a pair of L1590/2 because the tube amp didn't want to work that much woofer and the tube amp makes the system with the other speakers I have, DQ-10s, DCM TW and MG-IIIa. So if the 1530 isn't working in your situation, don't feel bad about moving on. I can see those three big speakers remaining getting pushed aside for the new little jobs.

A smaller ADS should be a good speaker, would a tower work if it wasn't a black monolith...L1090/1290 maybe? Take up less space than the 810 which would be on stands so be your choice on looks.
 
Thanks for the suggestions. I do have some fairly decent JBL L112 speakers I could continue using if I do sell the ADS.
 
The L1230's are a bit smaller and take about the same footprint as the L810's The L1230's are no slouch in any way, but they don't have that special bottom end the L1530's have. People have commented on a boomyness of the 810's which I never thought so, but the L1230's which use similar parts, is a bit smoother on the bottom end. All that, and as much as I have read about people that have owned and sold their L1530's they often say they have regrets. Still, I understand the space issue.

Thanks all for the suggestions, defintely doing some research. I've heard the 1590's are pretty amazing also with a smaller footprint, but I've also heard they are pretty rare to find just like the 1530's, especially in the 8-10 condition range.
 
Everytime I think of getting rid of my 1530s I crank them up and the feeling just goes away.
The size of them are a challenge for most rooms. But if you have a wife that accepts them, you are luckier than most.
I have 980s in a smaller room, and I can't imagine they can fill the space the way the 1530s do. Maybe it's time to give that a try just to see.:rolleyes:
 
The L1530's at realistic listening levels could "crowd out" too small a room.
It would be nice to have at least 300 sq feet of "listening" space.
 
So, it would seem based on the comments of a few that I already have one of the top models of speakers that ADS produced, and it might be a long frustrating journey to find something smaller from ADS or another brand that will compare in sound?
These are the one and only set of ADS speakers I have owned, so I’m not totally 100% committed yet... or maybe I am haha. I have heard other models including Braun at other people’s homes a long time ago , but never 1530’s, and I have personally rotated through a lot of different speakers, but there is something differently special about these.

Seems to me you've answered your own question:).

I own a pair of 1530"s and as long as I have room for them, I won't part with them unless I find something better that I can afford (doubtful in my financial situation).
