As to cutting holes in the side of your house, its all a matter of priorities. I say all the power to him. If you have the money, you can do what ever you like as opposed to what others think would be a better use of the funds.

thas a system from HELL design'd by GOD him self lol:)id hate to think if i had the sudden urge to rerange:)but looks cool would love to hear it!!!!!!
 
Excess aside, these do seem incompatible with music enjoyment:

Rainy days are the best days to enjoy music, yet trying to listen to those on such a days would be not too far from rain on a tin roof mechanically amplified. Nevermind trying to listen to music late in the evening and hearing raccoons or the neighbor's cat running up and down those.

Then there's the dusting ... the guy would need to hire a chimney sweep to clean the inside of those horns and those kids are hard to find outside of 19th century London.

Anyone see anything to time align all those drivers of such disparate distances? Without it, the guy will be getting his money worth on transients -- five taps for each one in the recording.

I get the impression from the pictures showing the whole room that this guy is a bachelor or has his and her houses.

Speaking of the pictures, is anyone else surprised at how relatively small the music collection is? Especially for that outlay of money? I've about that many albums within just a few feet of me (various formats) and more LPs than he in the other room. (Always been of the mindset that the investment in music should be greater than that of the equipment.)

Have to admire the man's dedication to creating his "ideal" sound system. That said, I share skepticism that the set-up will really sound all that good in that space. Would love to have a chance to listen first-hand to it and find out, though! :yes:

As for those horns being noisy in the rain, with stray cats, etc... that's a good point. They need to have a shelter built around them, preferably sound-insulated.

That comment about kitchen ware isn't far off the mark. I used to have a very early espresso machine that looked a lot like those tube amps. Had real mica sheet insulation and old woven-cloth wire insulation, etc... with ebony (pre-bakelite?) handles, made in Italy. Bought it for forty bucks from an old man who thought it was an old gas lamp (!) and sold it for nearly a thousand dollars to a restaurant owner who collected early kitchen gear.
 
I wonder if he's actually go two systems there? Are the horns full-range, eliminating the time alignment problem, and the other stuff is a separate system? I could be full of crap.
 
Actually if you take a look, he removed a picture window or possibly a sliding glass door to install those horns.
He's crazy BTW. :banana:
