Dad passed away...

Dad passed away peacefully on Tuesday. My family was there at his bedside. He had dementia, was 88. I will miss him deeply! He was a biker and biked 30 miles almost everyday when the weather was nice, in his early 80s! Has a big recumbent bike. Used to go to the bike rallies in Stevens Point, WI. His quality of life wasn't good in the end. He's at peace now and in Heaven. Served in the Korean War, was always stationed in Japan during that war. Will be buried with full military honors.

Mom is a trooper and is 88 too. She still handwrites letters to family and reads books all the time!

My sincere condolences, and a salute to your father….Along with best wishes and prayers for your Mother and family.

Words and correspondence at these times are way too tacit…..

Highest Regards,

Lieutenant Colonel, Andy D. Nichols, USA, Retired

Was so sorry to hear this. Thank you for telling us a little about him too. By doing that, your dad touches us too, and his memory lives within strangers he's never met. He sounds like he was an awesome dad, and toit, he in return had a pretty darn nice son to boot. It show's in your post. There is no doubt in my mind he felt the love you and your mother had for him in his last days. And that ... is what he got to carry with him on his final journey.

Garry~

88 years was a helluva good run, and he did a helluva good job raising you right. As much as we hate to see them pass, they pass the torch on to us. My sincere condolences to you and your family and the many friends who his life has touched.

71 when pops passed in '95, 83 for mom when she passed in 2019. Still miss them both.
