Dad passed away...

Dad passed away peacefully on Tuesday. My family was there at his bedside. He had dementia, was 88. I will miss him deeply! He was a biker and biked 30 miles almost everyday when the weather was nice, in his early 80s! Has a big recumbent bike. Used to go to the bike rallies in Stevens Point, WI. His quality of life wasn't good in the end. He's at peace now and in Heaven. Served in the Korean War, was always stationed in Japan during that war. Will be buried with full military honors.

Mom is a trooper and is 88 too. She still handwrites letters to family and reads books all the time!
My condolences. Mine passed away at 90 two years ago. It was his time and wasn't particularly emotional for me because I was happy for him. He was in his woods with a chain saw cutting down trees two weeks before.

Regarding your father's quality of life in the end, an old woman once said, "People worry about reaching old age. They shouldn't. It doesn't last that long." At 68 myself, I understand exactly what she was saying.
