Dam Young 'Uns !

Bethany's 16-yr-old brother, Jess, came over last nite, & wanted to check his Facebook & stuff. Fine, no problem. I THOUGHT. This morning, I got up, tried to get on AK, & somehow or another, he'd cleaned out/deleted ALL my history/passwords...AK, VK, Hotmail, Ebay, the whole 9 yards. He crashed here last nite, & when he gets up, I think I'll Pinch his Head off...Grrrrrr....

Now Sandy, I don't want to put a match to this but I have 4 boys and with their friends using the computer, they can really screw it up. It sounds like maybe they were somewhere where they shouln't have been and wanted to cover their tracks by thinking they could delete the places where they were on the net. Just a thought here. I caught one of my son's that were on cartoon porno of all things. Talk about getting band from the computer. Yes.

Did you try to do a System Restore? That may bring you back to where you were before.

yup, might get you back. Also, what the heck did he not want you to know he was surfing on?

Always best to only have you use your computer. Access to others just isn't a good idea. He could have also downloaded stuff (viruses, etc.) that you don't want to be dealing with.

Set up a 'Guest' account, and tighten up the controls on where it can go, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, make your admin account PASSWORD PROTECTED.

Then you pinch his head off, of course.

Buy a cheap junker computer and set it up as a public computer. That way you don't risk any of your settings. Amazing how quickly someone can mess you up.

Good luck!

I may be overboard but letting someone on your PC is like opening your gun cabinent to them.

If they were on porn sites, I would do a complete virus, malware check of your system. A lot of porn sites do contain viruses and other nasty stuff.

I keep all my passwords written down in a locked drawer. That way if anything gets wiped out, I still have them.

Tried "System Restore"...All it did was blink at me, shut 'er off & tried again. Nada. He said the computer shut itself off last nite-Possibly, we have power "Blips" all the time-but it came back up. Won a BCB Command Set offa You-Know-Where last nite, & can't get into the account to see where to send the money & all... What was the story about the little girl w/the curl in the middle of her forehead ?!? When she was good, she was very, very good, but when she was bad, she was HORRID ! Aaaarrgh !

He probably went to Tools, Internet Options, Browsing History - this will delete temporary files, history, cookies, saved passwords, web information, etc.

After a reboot try to do a system restore from an earlier date, at least a few days before the pornfest. And yes, do a full scan for virus' and malware first.

Sharing is good (for some things), but not computers, nut-uh

I'm sure the little Dickens was trying to erase his tracks and in the process erased yours. How polite of him to clean up.

Uh...computer shut itself off last night? I'm sure that's double speak for...you're now thoroughly virus infested...charming.

I think a trip to the woodshed is in order.

If there's a power outage, some browsers (Firefox/Mozilla is an example) will lose some cache files, but none that I know of delete the browsing history when the power goes out. That's a tracks covering maneuver that must be done manually, or set to happen automatically. Of course it's too late to say this, but letting a teen-aged boy use your computer is like handing a monkey a live hand grenade. Nothing good comes of it.

Picture the internet like printed media. You handed a teenager a stack of magazines and postcards that represent what's on the internet. 1/4 of the stack was pictures of cats, 1/4 of it was letters from their friends, and 1/2 of it was Playboy, Hustler, etc. Did he not look at the porn?

Sheesh! What are these kids coming to these days? I know that none of us looked at such things when we were kids.

Then again, if the internet existed back in the stone age, well, maybe just a peek to see what all the fuss was about. :naughty:
