I feel like an idiot. I just attempted to pick up a hot soldering iron by the wrong end. Burned my left pinky rather nicely, the blisters formed almost immediately. I'm sitting here with an ice pack on it now feeling like a moron. I swear thats the first time I've ever done that, and hopefully it will be the last. This f'n hurts.

Dude !! Sorry to hear that man . I've done that too , took me a few times before I stopped ! lol . A beer always made it feel better .

Ouch, sorry to hear it. Kinda late now, but for burns, you oughta put some butter on it. Not for the taste, LOL, it's supposed to help the pain quite a bit. :D ;)

Sorry to hear that.

I feel like an idiot also. Just put my headphones on and wondered why I was getting no sound. Didn't have them plugged in.:D

Back a few I brought a tip up to my nose to see if it was hot! .... It was!

Never ever, ever, ever, put anything on a burn, especially oil or fat. If it gets worse and you need to go to the hospital, the first thing they will have to do is scrub the burn with a scrub brush to remove the butter. You can imagine what that will feel like.

Aloha,

Rob

it use to be, every time I soldered something, I would, at some point in the project, attempt to stabilize the iron like a pencil, using a finger on my left hand, right near the tip...

It actually took me a while to learn to stop that.

i have burned myself almost everytime i use a soldering iron. it hurts...alot. sorry to hear about your burns and i hope they get better soon  just yesterday i freaked out and thought my Technics SU-V85A died on me, it wouldnt turn on, i pushed the power button multiple times before realizing that it was unplugged :dunno: then when i got it working i thought it had now sound output, so i freaked again. i pushed every button, checked the speaker wires, and turned every knob...except the Speaker selector buttons. it took me about five minutes before i realized, i pressed the mains button and voila sound! i felt really stupid.

Huh? I imagine if it's bad enough to need to go to the hospital, you're gonna know it in about the first minute. I was talking about the annoying but painful "minor" burns. And if anyone tries to use a scrub brush on an injury of mine, they're gonna regret it. :thumbsdn: Soap & water, or an alcohol pad will clean the butter off just fine, painlessly or close to it.

after it starts to hear put some aloe on it, when it scabs over I make sure to put olive oil on it every night before going to bed. Heals faster and usually without scarring.

No, you would need to seek medical attention a day or two later when the butter promotes an infection. At the hospital they would then ask you how you treated the burn... Here take a class, you could use it someday:

OK, I "could" be wrong on the butter, in this day & age, with all the miraculous progress they've made, but I've never heard of anyone getting an infection from it. And the fact remains, if some moron tries using a scrub brush on any injury I might get, I'm punching them in the nose. I dunno, maybe you said scrub brush, but meant something else.

Physicians perform debridement to remove necrotic, infected tissue from wounds and burns and to promote healing and new tissue growth. There are two categories of debridement:
(1) Nonexcisional--is not a surgical procedure. It involves the non-operative brushing, scrubbing, whirlpool or washing of devitalized burn tissue... .

find an aloe vera plant and get some juice out of it and rub it on ..burn will be gone very soon .. failing that coconut oil is very good .

Hey I'm sorry to hear about your burn. I know its painful. When I was young I picked up one of those sparklers rods on the 4th of july at night. Oh what a burn that was. Yes, butter was used and I lived through it. :D
