Another vote for aloe. My wife had a nice burn from splashing oil while frying some chicken I went out back and cut off a piece of aloe and it soothed the pain.

I just remembered when I was very little I pulled down a black iron skillet from the stove. It was full of hot oil frying potatoes. The hot oil poured over my entire chest. All I remember at the time was laying in bed with my mom using butter all over it. Still to this day, I do not remember much of it or the healing process. :tears:
About a month ago I was setting up a new woodstove in my cellar. I had to tip it up a bit to remove the cardboard it was sitting on. As I tugged the cardboard the stove came down on my left thumb. It removed ~1/3" off the tip...
I'll trade my injury for yours.

LOL you are not the first. Been there done that. The faster you get it iced the faster it will heal. I had a bad one last summer. Dumb ass tried to adjust a grill on a open pit fire. Heard a sizzle when I grabbed it between my pointer and thumb. Plunged my hand into a nice ice filled drink right away. Skin was tight from the burn shrinkage and it did 'burn' for a while but I kept it on ice for an hour or so to keep the pain down. Sucker healed way faster than any I had had in the past. Pop some Advil. Pain killers actually work. 
I iced it last night and before I went to bed I sprayed it with some Chloraseptic throat spray. That sounds silly, but its an antiseptic and a pain reliever and it actually helped. Feels more or less OK today unless I bump it. The lower joint has a nice fat blister that I'll just leave alone until it dries up some. I don't really want an open wound to deal with. Its not leaking so I figure I'm probably best letting it be.

Been there, done that, know how it feels ,many times in my years of service.
One thing that I did learn ''THE HARD WAY'' , that I would now like to share with you..
If you drop a soldering iron, or it ever falls off of your bench,, DO NOT attempt to catch it.. Let it fall on the floor, and then quickly pick it up by the handle, before it burns the floor.. If you try to catch it on it's way down, inadvertently, you will always either grab, or touch the wrong end... Yep,, I did that one time... Only one time. And that was plenty enough... :sigh:

When i was 3 I got a hold of this soldering gun my father had. It was for heavy work, had a big chisel tip. I thought it was some sort of electric chisel and I kept pulling the trigger trying to get some chisel action going. Nothing happened so I finally set it down. End came down on the top of my left hand.... Still have a bit of a scar there.
I've done that as well in the past,it does hurt doesn't it?
A few years ago, I was cutting the grass on a nice summer day. I wanted to adjust the height of the lawnmower, but instead of walking around the other side, I reached over the top (it's only a Toro self propelled). Bad move. Two of my fingers touched the hot exhaust. I was in agony for the next hour or so, putting my fingers on ice helped, but when the ice melted the pain started coming back. I wonder if you can give yourself frostbite like this?
My wife had some oxy-something medication left over from when she put her back out lifting a patient at her job, she suggested I take one. I did this as she was going out to the store, and when she got back I was zonked out like a zombie on the couch. It blocked the pain, but man did I feel wasted. I can't understand the people that try to score these prescription pain killers to take for fun, it wasn't a feeling I'd like to get again.
