Damn Truck !

The transmission is not like the CVTs in many Nissan vehicles or the late, unlamented Ford Taurus X crossover. It's an eCVT, similar in design to the transmission in the Toyota Prius hybrid.

The Taurus X had a 6 speed. The Freestyle which was what it was called before the switch to Taurus X had the CVT for 2 years. Had a Freestyle and lamented having to sell it. It was a great big ol comfortable people carrier that got 26.5 mpg on a trip to the Grand Canyon and back from Illinois.

My old Explorer is capless. Works fine. I think it's a great idea. Why have a cap and a door? Make the door do double duty. As to parking giant pickups, folks around here just pull them any which way and don't seem to give a flip about anyone else.

I cant stand those stupid fold out ones.

Some of the modern trucks have a telescoping mirror for towing, and that can be kind of useful. Out when its needed, at normal width otherwise. I imagine they're pretty expensive to replace though.

My fix for not being able to see my trailer behind my too-big truck was to attach a pair of those fiberglass poles people use to mark driveways and such for the snow plow. One at each rear corner, its enough to know where the trailer is when its not full of stuff. I put a pair of posts on my boat trailer for the same reason. Its completely invisible behind the truck when the boat isn't on it. Also helps with lining the boat up to pull it so double functionality.

I have had 4 3/4 ton pick-ups in the last 30 years and this last 2015 Super Duty is the first one which I would not recommend for every day driving . It is such a club . It hauls nice and is very stable with a load , but just not an every day vehicle .

Unless you need a truck for towing or throwing dirt and debris in the back, you can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the back of most minivans with the 2nd row of seats removed. They are easy to enter/exit and drive/park. They are probably more economical to purchase since everyone wants a truck or SUV. The problem is, they carry the minivan stigma which is silly. They're actually quite practical if you need to haul crap. I can get 10' long items in my wife's van and still close the rear gate.

This is really starting to piss me off. One day it's off, next it's on. Probably going to cause inspection issues ! I just got rid of a truck with "inspection issues".

Maybe I can shove a cork down its hole !

Did you change the fuel cap?

That's part of why I hate this truck, there's not one, just a flapper door for lazy people. When you insert the nozzle it releases two side catches down in there that then allows the flapper down there to open. Can't stick your finger in and wipe it off, have to have intercourse between the nozzle and inlet to try and clear crap. Stupid design IMHO.

Don't get me going about stupid design, LOL. I am a Scotty Kilmer sub.

Must be a sensor or switch or something that tells it whether the flap is fully shut. Could also be a bit of crap in there hanging it up a bit.

If it doesn't have a sensor on the flap, its likely using a pressure sensor in the tank associated with the EVAP system. Could be there is a leak, or the evap solenoid doesn't open to apply vacuum to the tank so it just assumes there is a leak since the sensor doesn't register anything. Thats mostly guesswork, I'm sure there is more specific info on youtube. I did see a hit from South Main Auto come up, but didn't watch it. SMA is pretty good about explaining whats wrong, how to diagnose it, and how to fix it.

but with that debris?? wonder if it can be sucked out? .... Maybe a factory recall on it? ask a dealer service manager if other people have the prob. with the flapper.

Be glad it's not a BMW as you would have to replace the head gaskets, overhaul the transmission, just to fix that bad gas filler flapper.
