From the look of the TT, my guess is solid state, early 70s.

Sam's right, it is solid state. It's a Montgomery Wards Airline Console and there's one listed on this page that describes it as SS. http://www.neaca.com/Music.html

It is a Mongomery Wards Airline from 1967. I know that, since my Mother has one identical to it- purchased new. They were built by Hoffman Electronics, which made many electronic items for Wards and others, particularly televisions. The console uses 8" woofers in the side, and HORNS(!) facing forward! I never saw any published power claims, but the tuner was pretty good.

The turntable was the only thing that was troublesome, I believe it is a VM unit. The cartridge is an Astatic (I think) and fits that arm only. All in all, not a bad unit, with tape inputs/outputs and the usual tone/balance controls, etc.
