I make lists of what to look for when searching our National auction site 'Trade Me' so I don't forget any, and here is my current to get list! :yes:

Move Crime of the Century up the list, I recall being blown away by the depth of that recording the first time I heard it. Your list only has a couple hard to find ones. Sticky Fingers is one I have been looking for and they are not an easy find around here, Cant you hear me Knocking is my fav song of theirs. I would recommend Communique and Making Movies over Brothers in Arms. Pet Sounds is an awesome mono recording.

Hi Pete, the list wasn't in any order just take them as I find them, but yeah just only in the last couple of weeks have I given Crime of the Century any thought it's just I heard a song from the album on the radio at work that struck a chord with me, and had to have it. Sticky Fingers, well I did have the 'real-zipper' cover album and sold it along with my entire collection this is my first re-build or second collection, and do enjoy finding them again (believe it or not :no:) as for Dire Straits Love over Gold is one of my favs and would be equal to Brother's in Arms and BIA was a huge for me as I saw the concert tour when they played in 1985 in NZ. so it has good memories, and now I enjoy piano very much I love... Love over Gold :thmbsp: thanks for your comments.
 
There all in my collection except for 11, 13 & 22, and I must admit I would love these three also.

Great list there Daza. "Slider" is one of my favourite, late night, 'smack-out' records.

Thanks, it all feels odd finding the records I used to own. Never had Slider before I'm still looking. Pretty bummed about missing out on a EX+ original 1966 Mono Pet Sounds but the price got scary. :yikes:

I suppose it makes sense there is always someone out looking for the same classics. :sigh:
 
I've got to admit, some of those titles I only have on CD due to the price and difficulty of finding them. I'm ok with that. It scratched the itch. These titles are Blonde, Highway, Pet Sounds and Exile.

FWIW, Pet Sounds was released in Australia (and therefore most likely NZ) as "The Fabulous Beach Boys". http://www.discogs.com/Beach-Boys-The-Fabulous-Beach-Boys/release/1073324 It's on the MFP (music for pleasure) label. My copy doesn't compare to a CD release that I have that contains both mono and stereo mixes, but it could be a worn record rather than a bad press. Personally I'm tending towards the later, but check it out either way. I picked up my copy at a second hand record store for $10 and the owner had no idea it was the only Australian release of Pet Sounds.

If you are going to get Slider you should also look at getting: Electric Warrior IMO it nudges out Slider by a bit.

As far as mono Pet Sounds goes you might want to keep your eyes open for the Carl and the Passions / Pet Sounds - two for. The Pet Sounds is cut from the same mono lacquers as the original release.
 
Ditto what Spartanmanor said about Pet Sounds. I procured the mono that way and it is great.

Anyway, great list.

Thanks for the tops on which pressings to look got that helps me big time. I will seek out and find them. :yes: for sticky what does "mo" mean? Mofi? Cause I see them for $150 too much for me. For revolver you added mono UK does the 2014 mono equal that? And where were they made ? The. Mono Remasters . Cheers

"MO" means a US West Coast "Monarch" pressing. There will be an "MO" in the string of numbers on the yellow Rolling Stones Records label for "Sticky Fingers." The Mofi "Sticky Fingers" has the bass EQ way too strong for my preference. It's a dog, if you ask me (feel the same way about the Mofi "Ziggy"). Early WG (German) pressings of "Sticky" use the same stampers as the UK, so those are a good option. It is a toss up between the US "MO" and the early UK (or early WG). Know that the "old" catch number for "Sticky" is COC 59100. Later pressings are COC 39105 (not as good).

I have an early UK Parlophone pressing of "Revolver." A decent copy will cost close to $200 these days. The current mono remasters were pressed in Germany. The biggest difference between the old UK LP and the remasters would be tube cut vs. solid state cut. Is the tube sound worth the extra cash? If I were starting from scratch, I'd opt for the remaster (solid state).
 
I have just bid on a 1966 UK MONO 1st pressing of Blonde on Blonde in Very Good condition, on ebay it has the Claudia photos on textured orange labels. how cool and I'm leading :banana:

Thanks for the tip on Sticky and Revolver, yeah I would have to say from what I heard guys say on here the remaster of Revolver and particularly Rubber Soul MONO remasters are best 'reissue' ever, and will be nice to have in Mint condition. :yes:

Where is that pressed? and how does it compare to original? equal or better?
I'll check it out......only 19 mins away from winning or not, the Blond on Blonde album I mentioned earlier.:worried:

I do not have an original but to my ears it sounds excellent.

Here is a link on ziggy vinyl on the hoffman forum, it seems to get favorable reviews over there:

I am not sure what the originals are going for but for price to quality ratio the 40th wins for me. I personally have backed off the chasing the original game and opted for this compromise. I have paid for too many original pressings, had them shipped from overseas only to be disappointed with the quality.

here I think they go for 56 bucks? and come with a dvd? also I missed out on the Blonde on Blonde in the last 4 seconds......Thank god it was too much it just impulse bided. :D would have cost me 76 bucks including postage...phew!!!
