DCM Time Frame comparison

Great bunch of data here. I am wondering what everyone thinks about a TF paired with low-powered tubes (12 watts per channel). Obviously, the more efficient the better, so likely a TF250. Will be placed in listening room with 18 ft. ceilings, apx. 14 x 20. Thoughts, concerns, etc...

I generally think more power rather than less is best except with highly efficient speakers. I believe the 250's were rated around 89db and had a recommended 10-100 power range so you would probably be right on the edge using a 12 watt tube amp. I don't think you will hurt anything so I would give it a try and see what you think.

This very afternoon, I took a pair of TF700s from the top of a dumpster, spotted while walking the dog.

They're alive!

Well, mostly. There's no sound from one of the mids. Shouldn't be too challenging. Do not yet know if it's a crossover problem, wiring problem, or driver problem.

For now, they've been added as surrounds to a pair of ProAc 2.5 fronts, and blend in wonderfully.

Dumpster gold !

Not sure how the TF700 is laid out but my latest TF600 pair had a dead (upper) woofer in one, the one with the coaxially mounted tweeter in front of it on a screen. Woofers were glued/calked in-place.

'd like to find a pair of TF2000 speakers at some point to complete the collection.

I remember a couple of years ago on here someone had a pair of 2000’s in SF, CA that no one would buy. He ended up giving to someone that paid the shipping.

So, 13 years later, I found a pair!
Just wound up with a pair of DCM TF-250 speakers! (circa 1985)
Other than the Timepiece speakers, they're the smallest DCMs I've heard.

Actually not bad. Joni Mitchell Travelogue with full orchestra wasn't the best, Renaissance Turn of the Cards wasn't bad,
Ten Years After Watt and A Space in Time actually pretty good on these little puppies!
Of course, they are no match for the bespoke Von Schweikert VR4s behind them, then again, their price was minimal in comparison!
Gonna go listen to some Paul Buchanan and The Blue Nile (Scottish favorites)
