Supposed to be both. There are lots of huge DCM fans on AK, with all of the Timeframe series and the Time Windows garnering much praise. The TF2000 debuted at CES in 1987, and there's some iffy info on whether they actually went into production, or whether the pairs out there were a pre-production run. I've seen serial numbers into the high 300's in my brief search on info about these, but whether that means there are actually nearly 200 pairs or more in production, I have no idea. They do not come up for sale often.

Apparently a very special speaker both in rarity and sonic excellence.
 
These were 2 grand new so that means there will not be thousands of pairs out there. The appear to have similar WAF to the Magneplanars of the era, the MG-2.5/R, MG-IIIa and the MG-1.whatever so since there are other speakers out there that are similar in high performance for similar money this is not a widely sold product. The Vandersteen 2C-whatever was available as were a number of other $1500 to $2500 speakers that would be in competition with these.

I would suspect many dealers with the DCM line might not have even had a pair for auditioning. So rare is probably a key to these.

We need to have some folks that know their sound to talk to that point. I have never heard them but have owned TW since new in about 1980.
 
I'll be near the Lehigh Valley this weekend if anybody is truly interested and needs someone local-ish to take a look/listen. I won't have a super high power amp available to test them with (assuming the seller doesn't have them hooked up), but could bring a Denon PMA-757 with me for a clean 80wpc.
 
The good thing about the large TF speakers is they are relatively easily driven. That being said I sold my TF1000 in short order as they left me under impressed. Are the 2000s better? I have no idea but if you have at least 100 or more wpc to play with Any of the Dahlquist DQ line will out perform them as will Infinity RS 2.5s and most Maggies.

The DCMs use Vifa tweeters and mids and sometimes their woofs so they are very sweet but there are many speakers in the 1K range that will out perform them. Plus if you every need to move thm along you're tarting out at the very top of te market.

I hope whomever is selling thm gets his asking and I don't mean to rain on his parade. I just thought I would share my experience.
