i have a pair of each thanks to the kindness of a couple of AKer's and I highly recommend you run and get both pairs. The price for each is in line as well if they are in good shape.

Can anybody tell me if the TimePiece uses the same coaxial design as the CX series? The grills don't appear to be removable, and I cant tell what's behind there. Oddly, the bottom half of the front (under the tweeter) seems to be a void? hmm? 2nd question... I'm looking at some pics of the cx-17 and cx-27 and I see the coaxial speaker with the tweeter mounted front and center on what looks like a piece of wood. how does this coaxial setup work. I'm used to seeing a coaxial setup in car audio or in-wall speakers but this setup has me baffled. Can somebody please explain to me where the 6.5" speaker is?

Per the spec sheet it is a coaxial design with a 6.5" woofer and a .75 tweeter and a single tuned port. The CX-27's had a co-axial 6.5" with a .75 tweeter but they also had an additional 6.5 woofer and 2 rear firing ports.
Like the Time Frame series there are no grills for the Time pieces in a traditional since. The grill is wrapped around the enclosure and unlike the Time Frames I have never heard or seen that the caps can be removed and the grill pulled back. The current DCM site does a good job of responding/supporting their older gear so they might be able to help you removing the grill cloth.
According to the DCM spec sheet the woofer is located near the top and extends nearly to the side, the tweeter is mounted in front of the woofer in a standard coaxial design tuned port is near the bottom below the woofer/tweeter. As I offered before if want to PM me an e-mail address I can send you the Time Piece spec sheet that contains a diagram of the speaker placement. While looking at the spec sheet there is an interesting line under Power Handling- 15 watts RMS pink noise continuous. Not sure what they mean by pink noise??

I picked up a pair of these in mint condition at the local flea market with a couple other items. Super shape and they sound nice for their size. I was really surprised the guy had them for 50 and I ended up giving him 35 for them.
I too was curious as to how to get into these critters to check out their innards! It's not quite the same as slipping a sock over a pair of Maggies.
BTW, does anyone know if Magnapan still sells boxes? I picked up some 1.6's for cheap last week and they have some boo-boos low on the cloth. I have these wrapped up tight in storage until the wife leaves the house for some time. Then she'll come home and say "WTF"?! but I'll just have to ask for forgiveness. Again. (he-he)

Nice pick-up and a good price. They are a little rarer than other DCM gear. You will probably find they do best when matched with a good sub as they seem to lack bass IMO.

I just missed out on a pair of DCM Time Window Seven’s for sale on CL in Orlando. By the time I got to the seller he had already struck a deal with a guy in Colorado. Which one of you was it?
The seller commented that he bought them directly from the manufacturer in '96 and he’s getting to old to appreciate them anymore. He also told me that he had received calls from people in 3 different states.
Don’t get a chance to own these very often. Oh well….

I used 29" metal stands made by Plateau with removeable spiked feet and they were a perfect match for my Timepieces while I owned them. As much as i enjoyed their sound, they went right back to Craigslist when I acquired 2 sets of DCM Macrophones. IMO these are the best smaller two-way speakers DCM ever produced (1/2 of a Time Window) and are kinda rare.
