Denon dp300f distortion/fluttering

Been having this problem for a few months off and on. Records and stylus are clean. Phono pre-amp switch is set to OFF. This does not occur when I play CD's or Blu-Rays, so I know it's not the speakers.

I've tried adjusting everything that I've researched. All connections are tight.

My equipment:

Denon dp300f turntable
Yamaha R-V502 receiver
Pioneer Andrew Jones fs-52 speakers

May be an issue with the phono stage in your receiver. Do you have access to a phono pre, or another receiver to test the table on?

An obvious question, have you checked all the connections to the cartridge and the tonearm wiring?

Use the built-in phono section in the TT and connect the RCA to AUX on the receiver. If the issue goes away then it is the phono section in the receiver.

Since you abandoned your first thread about this, I’m reposting the questions I asked you:

does the distortion happen with headphones? how close is your turntable to your speakers? if your woofers are really pumping, your TT could be picking up sound and vibration coming from your speakers, creating a feedback issue.

also, if you're having an issue with the cart not tracking at the recommended tracking force, have you checked to ensure your TT is level?

The selector knob on the Yahama may need Deoxit.

I couldn't find my first posting about this. That's why I reposted.

Distortion does not happen with headphones.
If you look at the video I posted above, you'll see that the TT is elevated on a stand just to the right of one of the speakers.

Someone sent me the service manual yesterday, and there's a section that says if the stylus tip is adjusted too high, it may distort. I'm going to try adjusting that and see what happens.
