Ran into this capacitor today. Never seen one before. Can anyone tell me what it is? It says 22 mf 5.5v "SB" on the label
What type of capacitor can you use in it's place? It's kinda big for it's small value. Thanks for the help. It wouldn't show any value on my meter either. It is a cheap meter that goes up to 100 UF, but I would have thought it would have registered something???

That would be 22 milliFarad, or 22,000uF. Parts in that capacitance vicinity that are physically small are usually called "supercapacitors". I'm not sure how different they are from garden variety electrolytic capacitors, but at least one supplier categorizes them separately. (Mouser, that is - so if you are looking for a replacement, make sure your search includes the supercapacitor category.)

Hope someone can help with an issue I am having with this Capacitor. I removed a 22 millifarad 5.5v capacitor from my Denon Receiver and replaced it with a 0.22 5.5v Kemet supercapacitor for the memory section of presets on the tuner. It is a polar cap with positive and negative configuration. When I powered the receiver back on it would buzz. I immediately removed it and put the old cap back in and the buzz went away. I then ordered a different style of block capacitor from Mouser with the same 22 millifarad 5.5v value. I put it in and I still had some buzz, but now also had crosstalk from the tuner when on CD, Tape1. I removed it again and put the old cap back and problem went away. No crosstalk. No buzz.
Idle current has been set to 5mv on both channels and I can't understand what the issue is? Any suggestions? Thanks!
