The problem is DeoxIT is in aerosol spray can which is considered as dangerous goods, so there is dangerous goods fees by the freight carrier when we ship it overseas.
Plus the supplier/distributor has to pay the shipping fee and custom fee which all are added to the price of the product to resell.
That's why the price in UK is almost double to our retail price in US. But again, one can of DeoxIT last for a long time and works well so it's a good investment to have.

i have been checking prices over here ..cpc is out of the question ..i am now in contact with the other supplier in the uk . it is email only as he doesn't have a website and i think it is a one man operation .
maybe RS would be a better candidate to supply the uk . ? i know they already supply others products so might have hands tied .
its a shame it cant be got here for the right prices . i really want to give it a try . especially the fader lube as i have a live gig coming up and my mixer is noisy .
 
Not really a use, rather a misuse of it...


Where I worked, we used to sell it, albeit not all that much of it. We used a great deal of it ourselves, though, and on one occasion we had a can that had lost its propellant.

I cut the can open, and stored the liquid in a jar, thinking I may need to soak something in it someday.

A clear jar, with Cramolin R-5 written on it. (Tells you how long ago)

It sat on the test/repair bench for months, looking like a jar of clear red juice.

That gave me an idea...

I got an identical jar, and filled it with cranberry juice and water...Put the same markings on it.

I was doing a repair, while the business owner was watching, we were talking quietly, with the jar in view; top off like I was using it- next to my Coke can.

While we talked, I absently reached over and grabbed the jar and drained the contents, like a man dying of thirst.

The results were spectacular; in a fit verging on apoplexy: the owner fell out of his chair, while pointing and gesticulating wildly.

I then explained what I'd done. (No, I wasn't fired until later.)

Yah, Summer is a quiet time in the sales business.
 
Can't wait to get some D-5, have a bunch of pots and switches to use it on. And use the gold after everything is up and running.
 
My strangest use of DeOxit was to clean out the old gunky and dried up potting material in a Grado Blue. De Oxit emoved it all, and I was able to repot and get it sounding like new again.
 
I like DeoxIT, but my story is nothing special. I was new to audio equipment and got a Technics SL-23. The speed adjustments were radically unreliable -- the adjustments just didn't make sense. I used DeoxIT to clean things up, and the adjustments worked like should. Really no mess, no trouble, no residue.

The semi-auto function required some patience and a screwdriver.
 
Deoxit- The miracle cure for all crudded up contacts on anything electrical or electronic. aka Technician in a can. No go bag should be without a can or any tool kit.
 
Numerous threads/stories on this, (AK) forum stating the virtue's of using CAIG's products when cleaning electronic equipment. Me being a great joiner inner, I bought
a can of D5 from an online reseller, and literally gave it a shot on a piece of gear I own. What happened next was wonderful. My switches lost the feel of grit, and the "new" was brought back from oxidation Hell. The "dead" spots disappeared, and a better sound came out of my speakers. Wonderful products, can't think of a reason not to have a can or two in my work area. I only wish it was more readily available.
 
I use it in all my vintage gear and restorations.
The Deoxit D and G for the contact switches, and all the RCA plugs and metal connections on the back of the units, I use the Deoxit Faderlube for all the pots and sliders.
Great stuff.

Reading through this thread I learned I should apply the D and G to my outside lighting and wall plugs.
Never thought of that, but it so obvious when you think about it.
