Saw this one too. Have to pass as my piggy bank is empty.
Sure would like to have those L300s with stands.

This is a definite no brainer. Anyone close should get the cash together ASAP, by whatever means possible. I highly doubt that this is real ad. I call BS. If it happens to be the real deal.....run!

Well, it's a real ad, and not BS, just (I think) an honest mistake. The wife posted it for her husband, only she left out the "X", as in "LX-300", not L-300. I don't think it was intentional, just think she didn't realize the difference a single letter can make. She said "We had no idea we would have such a response!".

Pretty funny really, would have been a lot less funny if I'd schlepped all the way to Ft. Worth to see bookshelfs instead of Summits.

Thanks phaedrus for the info. I thought that there was probably a letter left out of the model number (not a true L-300 Summit). Especially with the L-7s also listed in the ad. Since I am local to the CL ad, I got the heebie-jeebies until I reread the ad. I opened the ad within an hour of it posting on CL. Yeah, I'm sure that there were probably several dozen on the list ahead of me to purchase a true pair of Summits for that price.

I've never heard of stands for L-300's. Were there such things?

That was another clue to me that these were probably not true Summits. I have never seen a set of JBL stands for these speakers. Maybe JBL did manufacture them. I've just never heard of the stands.

I remember drooling over the Summits whenever the L-300s were still being manufactured. I distinctly recall a pair of L-300s (powered by a Pioneer Spec series setup) just lighting up the atmosphere in a showroom. I was already thoroughly impressed with my brother's early '70s L-100 Centurys, but the Summits made an impressionable dent in my psyche that's still here today.

I had to laugh when her response to my question, "L300's, are you sure?" was, "Of course I'm sure, I'll send pics when hubby gets home."

Um, then no pics.

laf, it's a thread over on LHS as well. No wonder.

I just cannot fathom why they haven't fixed the ad yet, must like all the attention?
