Diaphragm replacement tips? (Celestion HF2000)

I've got a new set of diaphragms for my celestion hf2000 tweeters. Anyone done a job like this, any tips? How to get the diaphragm properly centered?

hi,probably put the new coil membrane in place on the tweeter between the 4 half moon pin,put some glue on the back of cardboard,press it in place and holding until it dry using the bigger cardbooard circle.Please tell me did you get from ebay these coils, Yvan

The VC ring looks burnt. These diaphragms may just be a short term solution to a long term problem unless someone accidentally blew them.

Yes ebay, from france.

That's how tweeters normally blow, by accident. The "burn" is probably just residue from the old dome when it blew. The supertweeters were all gone, I had them rewound.

i doubt they do,the seller does do the 4ohm version,i nearly went this route but in the end i bought a pair of second hand hf2000 tweeters.if they are the 8ohm ones then you have to modify the xover.

The seller apparently has an account here, he saw the thread and send me a message saying I can just stick it in the center and that will do it. I wasn't sure how much tolerance there was, but it sounds simple.

I asked him about this, he said there should be no sound difference, and that the 8ohm had better strength and durability. He had 4 ohm versions, but only in the polymer dome.

Has anyone come up with concrete crossover mods for 8ohm tweeters? People are talking about it but I can't find any results.

they are for ditton 66's but they have the same hf caps in the crossover as the 44's.

I Bought a pair of replacement diaphragms for a pair of Celestion HF2000 from Nino Music in France recently.

The quality of the replacements seems fine, and mimics the originals visually.

Nino has put a bit of effort into giving advice on how to carry out the replacement, in addition to the youtubes he has provided. However, following all his instructions, the replacement coils seems to be a bit too narrow and doesn't seem to fit the Celestion HF2000 I have at hand. (Beovox 5700)

Having been around for more than ten decades and not seen any postings in regards to a successful Celestion diaphragm replacement, probably added another decade to my age
Only seen a few postings about people actually buying this, but no one apparently reporting good or bad ...

I'm still here! This is the second old thread of mine bumped in the past few days.

Make sure the gap is clean. I use 3M frosted tape folded back on itself. If the gap is larger I'll use masking tape folded back over shims we would use to align voice coils of woofers. Other wise just follow the hints mentioned previously. I use 8 of them in attacked groups of 4's and they work perfectly. I've only blown 1 diaphragm in the last 40 years or so.

Does the coil not fit into the gap?

Just barely - it doesn't pop in, like Nino Music shows in his video's, and like the old cook'ed one does. The old one has a bit of play whereas the new one feels pretty tight.
I had a function generator @1kHz attached to see if I was able to find a position where it plays. But no such luck.
The gap has been clean, and inspected under a magnifier - seems clean.
So I wonder if there are slightly different versions of the HF2000? (mine is from a Beovox 5700)
