Picked up a collection for free from some really cool people. Still 2 more consoles to open. Both homemade. But this came with them....IMG_2247.JPGIMG_2249.JPG

I dont know what mono amp that is, but that Peerless transformer is nice. Looks like a well built heavy amp. Do you have another to make a pair?

Cool amps,, do the tubes match in the two power amps? The small chassis in the console looks like a phone pre...

With the S-265Q output transformer, the unit is no doubt built to the circuit of "The Musicians Amplifier" by Sarser and Sprinkle. You should be able to find a copy of the article on the web. It came out in 1949.

Super find! Good luck with it!

Came with lots of goodies.

Wow, What a windfall !!! And thx to Dave you have the info on it. I've been doing this for a long time and never heard or saw this amp. 807s cool.....The speaker is about as vintage as you can get....

Wow! You got that Altec for free as well.....i think it's more than a score...hopefully two of the amps match up close. Either way it is a killer bunch of gear

hm, Peerless iron with plate cap tubes. Thats a pretty premium transformer, hopefully the rest of the amp matches the pedigree. A pair of 807's (the plate cap tubes) and a pair of 6SN7 with a 5V4 rectifier is a nice setup. Super cool if its the amp circuit Dave mentioned. That one is kind of the foundation of hifi push-pull pentode amplifiers.

All of the components say peerless.ive got a ton of schematics... I'm getting in way deeper water now. Gonna have to get learnin'.

Since I'm clueless can anyone tell me what these connections are? I'm pretty sure the screws are speaker out. But the rest? And this knob? Thanks.

The two ceramic caps are the electrical connections for the anode (plate) in the tube. It will have several hundred volts DC on that, so make sure the wire is in good condition and do not poke at it.

If its typical of that style amplifier, the knob is a DC balance control. I don't see the test jacks, so my guess is you are supposed to adjust that for minimum hum. At that point the output tubes will be running at equal current.

SOmeone really did a fantastic job on that one. The layout and wire dress is excellent.
