Did you travel to see the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024?

My wife and I will be traveling to Buffalo, NY to see the total solar eclipse on April 8th. This is a good spot for us because we can visit Niagara Falls while we are there. We will be traveling from the Washington, DC area. Who else has plans to travel to see a total eclipse or are you one of the lucky ones to not have to travel? We are making the effort because the next solar eclipse in North America is in 2044.

I've got a standing invitation to a friend's camp in Pittsburg NH for the full eclipse. It's a 4 hour ride and haven't decided yet.
Buffalo is about a 6.5 hour drive for us. We will stay overnight there and come back home on the 9th. We plan to go regardless of the weather since the total darkness aspect of the eclipse can still be experienced.

I live in the path, so traveling to my front or back yard! I'm not getting too excited, as historically the chance of being clouded over is about 70% here. The whole Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse area is a bit iffy.

I hadn't planned on it but now that I've seen this thread I'm thinking I should.
I am doing this to remove a bucket list item. At my age, there is a good chance I won't be around in 2044 to catch the next one in North America. Plus, the path of the 2044 eclipse begins in Greenland, sweeps through Canada and ends around sunset in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota which is less that optimal to travel to from most of the continental US. This is the eclipse path for 2044 and viable observation points are far fewer.

Yes, the wife and I will travel to Indianapolis (actually Carmel, IN) from our MD home to have a sibling's reunion at my sister Bev's place. They live on a golf course, so we may hang out on a fairway to view unless there is overcast. We will get there the Friday before and head home on Tuesday, the ninth.

No need to travel for this one...

Wife has a dentists appt. at 2:45PM, hopefully they will all take a break and come outside.

I'll be outside waiting for her in any case.

I was born and raised in Indiana. The total eclipse area goes over my home town east of Terre Haute. I would go there but it is over a 12 hour drive from where I live. Buffalo is half that time AND I get to see the Falls again. Plus, I was just back there in November.

I might hit Paducah KY. I was thinking of going and looking at houses there so a full eclipse of the sun is a good excuse

Yep! i only have to travel about 15 miles to the east.
I just pray it isn't cloudy that day after all it will be April.
No matter the weather, I will still get to experience the effect of having pitch darkness in the middle of the day. This is the most important effect for me and the moon passing over the Sun is secondary. Plus, depending on the thickness of the cloud cover, one might be able to still see the the passing of the moon over the Sun through the clouds and maybe without having to use solar glasses.
