Differences between various power cords?

Whatever the case, man does it sound great!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Ain't that the strangest phemonomumum you ever did hear? Never in my wildest dreams would I think that power cables would make such a difference...

Totally agree. I was a lot more skeptical about this than I was about ICs, and it's still hard to believe, but here I am, sitting and listening to a sound that is better than it was a little more than a week ago.

Mr Lin, Gary P,

Recently added a PS audio quintessence power conditioner to my system.
It is still in the process of breaking in...returning to the PS audio website
I noticed they had a prelude sc power cord on B stock at reduced price,
so I ordered it..and upon arrival installed it to my new quintessence.

The quintessence of its own has improved the soundstage and raised my
system to much higher level of playback...adding the the 10 ga PS audio
prelude sc power cord improved on this even more. I could go on more
specifically.

That to say imo is that the quality of power going into the components
themselves will definitely have an impact on how the equipment then
responds to and consequently amplifies signals. Cleaner power would seem to
equate better soundstaging..in the case of the upgrade over what came
stock with my quintessence is night and day because the stock cable was
a throw away 14 ga and current limiting in contrast to my new PS audio
prelude sc power cable is 10 ga and ferrite impregnated outer jacket reducing
any interaction between it and other components..it seems then that the
quality (not the price) of the cable also has an effect overall..

Up to now i was in the show me prove it to me...with what I have now
experienced so far it seems power quality is very foundational to better
equipment performance.

Up to now I was some skeptic to power cords line conditioners etc
but now what a change and for the better.

As time and $$$ allow I will be changing out mu power amps power cord
and my preamps cord as well.

On a later post I will try to put into writing what I am now experiencing vs
what was prior to the addition of the "Q Lady" and Prelude sc power cord
From what I have been reading though it seems what I will then share will
further confirm your expeirnces.

Best wishes

Cool post, Mr. Kid. :)

I always find it hard describing those differences. Except the stuff that has no effect, or makes something sound worse, of course. :D

I find it difficult to describe the positive changes brought about by a good power cord, it just sounds better in general - better resolution, and a "bigger" sound, if that's acceptable.

Defilamentkid, I don't blame people for being skeptical about the whole power cord thing, I was too. It seems counter-intuitive. But if they'd just listen, the difference is real. On the other hand, I get aggravated when people refuse to accept that interconnects can sound different, and that some higher-priced ones are actually worth the cost, because I have experienced these things first hand and know it to be true, and some people are so absolute in their opinions about the supposed "cable myth."
