Disappointing hum with new PS-X7

Three of us had bought the PS-X6 or X7 in the late 70's within a few years all of us started getting hum from our units. We all found that the copper in the RCAs had turned green from corrosion. Suspecting that something in the insulation in the cables was corrosive after a period of time.

and that is probably what has occurred in the OPs table causing the hum.

Thanks, yeah I'll move the table and clean the RCAs, but seems unlikely to be the RCAs since it was working properly originally

On the contrary, flaky or intermittent ICs and RCA connections can confuse and confound to no end.

Update- I examined the table regarding the above suggestions and found no concerns.
I took the table back to the shop from whence it came. I literally walked back with the tech to his bench as he connected it to the bench components and..... no issue whatsoever. Brought it back home hooked it up to the same components in the same configuration as I had before and..... no issue there either after one LP. Then I hooked up my previous main table Dual 1246 with Sonus cart.

Now my impression of the signature 3 with 8MZ PS-X7 combination v the Dual sonus. I played Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture conducted by Erich Kunzel on Telarch. With the PS-X7/Grado I found the lows fairly accurate, but the highs quite subdued and the overall performance lacking punch. The Dual/Sonus both the highs and lows were quite accurate and the work came to life.
This is not at all what I expected in fact I expected the PS-X7 to blow the Dual out of the water.
Next step play a few more LPs to make sure the damn hum doesn't come back then install Sonus on the Sony and compare again.

I couldn't get any of my Grado carts to play to a reasonable level on my PS-X7. I mounted a Sonus Blue on it, and basically it was the wife's table.

So you did not care for the PS-X7 with the Sonus either?

The PS-X7 wasn't my primary table, bought it with the idea it was for my wife, she hated using my mayware arm.

I had the Sonus, and Micro Acoustics on my mayware before going with a Grado Signature. The Sony was a convenient table with all of its automatic functions. The albums often played on the Sony weren't demanding albums. It wasn't the main listening table, I didn't go to great efforts trying to make it so. All of my carts at the time were high compliance, I tried lightening the arm mass with different headshells and adding weight to the C/W, but that was the extent.
