I just thought I would post up I know many of you guys have issues with your little hobby and getting approval from the other half. I am single so I even have a pool table in my living room and my dining room is really a living room. I know I couldn't get away with all of this when my GF was here. In fact there have been many times when bringing this stuff home when I thought to myself "HMMM, I think my next GF may think she made the wrong choice. Some of this stuff although cool looking to me might be questionable to my lady freinds.
So, my brother in law "upgraded" burned all his CD collection to MP3 and got a flat screen and surround sound system. He gave me this huge entertainment center which was quite nice but I did not need at the time (and he gave me all the CDs to boot). There were three peices one huge center with doors and two end cabs. The end cabs I just slid together but I couldn't get the Sansui in there and the shelves were generally too short for most audio gear. Rats!
So I turned one of the cabinets around and removed the back panel. The Sansui 9090 slid right in with less that 3/8" to spare on the sides (YES!). From there I was able to get the carosel CD player and MY Pioneer SX 3800 in as well. The components hang off the back but no more that 4" and you would have to put your head against the wall to see it. Although the cabs are enclosed the back of it is open so no real concerns about heat building up. I have seen some posts about gear storage and display and saw the threaded rod shelves and other projects. Just though you guys might find this helpful. Everyone is buying flat screens so who is left to use the enterainment centers? I think you should be able to find plenty of enrtainment centers locally and probably darned cheap or free and think about how much more gear you could get away with owning!:thmbsp::thmbsp:
