I use this method too but prefer to use a screwdriver... Using a modified lazy-susan ( like those wood units from WalMart, Sears, etc) is great to clean/dry records.

Wipe with microfiber cloth and put in dishrack, or similar to air dry.

NUT/WASHER/CAP/ LP /NUT/CAP/NUT/WASHER/SMALL GAP/NUT/PIPE/NUT
Clamp the inside cap between two nuts, should allow the thing to spin.

Would it be possible to add a small pump to it to make it portable, then use a small tip to get the spray to a useable level of power? Maybe a crimped copper end fitting? I would love to sit on my front porch and clean as the Girls of Summer stroll by.

You can do anything you want! That's the beauty of DIY! You can play with your hose and watch the ladies from your front porch. I'm sure it's illegal in most states though. Now how about those pictures:

It's late so bear with me......
II fixed clamp assembly(no album rotation feature here)
1. Cut 1 piece of pvc pipe to 8 3/4" long using the hack saw.
2. Staying in the center - Drill a hole 2 inches from the top through both sides of the pipe.
3. Cut the threaded rod to 6 1/2" long using the hack saw.
4. Using one end cap, 6 1/2" rod, 2 wing nuts, and 2 fender washers assemble as seen in the pics.

And obviously the gaps would be much smaller, that's just for illustration. Any other ideas for better spinning?

That would work very well. When I first started to mess around with this stand I wanted to make it as simple as possible. The clamp is fixed to the stand and the user orientates the sprayer not the album. Either way it works! I've also just flipped the stand as well.

Just thought of a better idea. Get a tiny lazy susan bearing (http://www.mcfeelys.com/product/LSB-1003/3quot-Square-Lazy-Susan-Bearings) and screw it to a piece of wood the size of the frame of the bearing. Then just attach the spinning side to the cap and secure the other side to the threaded rod, and the cap should spin freely.

or just cut your hole in the pipe a touch bigger and put a sleeve over the threaded rod section

Yeah, like that. Thanx. this would be easier if I would stop PLANNING and just go buy the parts and DO IT. Over planning is one of my faults. Sometimes causes me to freeze and do nothing...
