DIY speakers for 4wpc amp

Are there better and worse Altec driver's models?
What can you afford? That's what it really boils down to.

Should I be looking precisely for Altec 604-8G or are there other good models?
With a low power limit like 4 watts, the original 604 or 604B with proper original paper hinge and phenolic spider moving assemblies and N1000 networks would be ideal. You'll pony up a minimum of 5 or 6 grand for a pair. Your budget will dictate where you;re going to go with 604's.

And what about the crossover is the original one good or should I get crossover elsewhere?
IMO, a Markwart phase corrected network is about the minimum standard, although the later factory networks with mid and high attenuation are an acceptable starting place for 8 ohm models.

I would like to save up for the best altecs..so 604 and 604B are best models? They are probably not very easy to find, right?

And if I'd want the best crossover I can get?

Best does not always correlate with practical. More often, practical is best.

The early models are very much collector items at this point, serious collector items. Original repair/service parts are unobtanium. When serviced with newer parts, both the collector value, and original sonic signature are lost.

One practical approach is to source 604C, D, or E for 16 ohm models or 604G, H, or K for 8 ohm models in need of service. That way both can be rebuilt with fresh parts that will assure that both drivers are electrically and mechanically matched.

That'd probably be a Werner Jagusch autoformer network.

OK and if I would be deciding between the 604G or 604H which one would you recommend?

Edit: I've found this offer with Urei horns
but I am not sure if I should buy it since there are changed horns. I don't know how the original Altec should sound therefor I won't know if the horns were replaced right. It would be safer to buy original, right?
