I agree with your assement. I have several pairs of DLK. My favorite are the 2and 3 with the original woofers. After putting in new capacitors and new pots they sounded almost completely different, especially in the high end.as the caps and the ability to ajust the mid and tweeters make a huge difference. I am recapping 1.5 crossovers for anyone , I am using a 8.2, 250v 1% Dayton mylar. I wish I could find who OEM those caps for parts express. But there cheap and provide excellent sound. Next project is both Marantz He D770/880. Dr Ed May of JBL dane was a great designer. Take care

Hi I also happen to acquire over the last few months four pairs of DLK quarter plus speakers three in very nice shape near mint one pair little ruff, but they Rock so I moved the ruff pair to my cabin bedroom. I used to think this modle was rare and all but I been seeing them lately all over and in nice condition . actually that 1 inch Peerless dome tweeter match with Don's own custom handmade 4 1/2" full range woofer sounds great!!! I have two pairs still in there original boxes too! I redopped the cloth surrounds with some of Vintage AR sealer I get from Larry. There now all in mint restored condition. If you happen to find a pair of these rare Dlk 1/4 plus speakers sang them up they were only in production for a year an half an sound great for what they are :yes:

Hello, i am new to this site and a huge fan of the DLK'S. I could never find the model 4's and had to settle for the 3's. Six pairs of them. They are awesome. Had two pairs of the 1/4 plus back in the day. Unable to get my hands on another pair. One day it will happen. I do own multiple pairs of the 1/4's, mod 1's and a pair of the 1/2's.

Hi the Dlk model 3/4 speakers early first production run was in 1975, Don used the CTS 6 1/2” drivers, these same CTS 6 1/2” 1 inch voice coil square ceramic Magnet drivers were also used in early first production runs of the Dlk model 1/2’s also in 1975. However Don transitioned over to all Heppner drivers in late 1976-early 1977, the Dlk model 1/2’s last factory production run was 1978. So some Late or last production run Dlk model 1/2’s would have the green basket 6 1/2” Heppner drivers with the 1 1/2” voice coils and round Ceramic ferrite magnets. Also the Dlk model 3/4’s had a shorter production run, an only came from the factory with the CTS 6 1/2” drivers as Mentioned above, the Dlk model 1/2’s had a longer production run and did transition over to the Heppner drivers like the other Dlk models at the time.

Yes, the holy grail. Don's custom versions. I still haven't looked into my others yet to see if they were customs.
