Do I need to calibrate my Pioneer RT909 for Maxell UD tape?

My tech is working on my RT909. What does calibrating the machine for Maxell UD do? He doesn’t have a calibration tape. Where would we get one of those tapes?

Calibration to a certain tape is more typically record bias optimization to ensure the best frequency response, and typically does not require anything more than a new, undamaged blank tape and test equipmemt.
