Do you keep your speaker grilles off?

(I hope it is okay to post in this thread, seems interesting enough to keep going.)

I pretty much prefer my grills completely off, but I usually keep them on because of the cats... how ever our oldest cat doesn't do anything he shouldn't, so he's fine.

I keep my door shut too. However, I still keep my grills on, mainly because I want to keep accidents from happening.

I like my grills off because I can show off and appreciate the beauty of the speakers. Also I enjoy watching them move from the beat. :D

Mine are always on for two reason:

1. They sound better with them on. They actually have a plastic honeycomb structure behind the cloth that helps act a diffuser. (The B&W's are super "revealing" speakers.)

2. With aluminum woofers, and kevlar mids, they are very distracting visually without the covers.

(I like to show off too. :))

Grilles on... Advent 5002's look HORRIBLE without the grilles. Especially mine. Some of the paint on the woofer frame is peeled off, and the grille frame lies flush with the rest of the cabinet, so no grille reveals a black painted, recessed, atrocity. I like the sound, but not so much the grilles off looks.

However, it depends on the speaker. If it was wood veneer all the way around, front included, with the grilles extruding from the front, the grilles would be off.

Put 'em on when the little monsters come by

I leave them off, but when my wife's nephews come by I put them on. After my first meeting with the two year old punching my Johnson I've always thought they were little monsters. I caught one of the little bastards pushing in the woofer on the KLFs. I just about came unglued!

Grills off here, the N-800's just seem naked with them on. Go to let them breathe deep, they move lots of air....

No grille covers offered, no rug rats, no grille covers used.

They are the Coincident Total Eclipse.

Happy (unvailed) Listening! :beatnik:
