Does anybody else match their interior decor/furniture to their gear? Pics.

I moved a bunch of stuff around my apartment today and started wondering if anybody else likes to match their furniture to their gear. Almost everything in my apartment (a small/medium sized loft) is from the 50s-mid '70s (when I was born). I just like the look. "Danish Modern" I think they call it. It goes really well with all my gear, and I think it just works with setting a good listening mood (as you can see by the big orange cat...that's Harry, my audio buddy).

Harry and a Sansui 9090db w/Sony 2251 TT on Zenith Consol, which I use for CD storage. It still has speakers, but nothing special. (All furniture Salvation Army or CL).

My couch, a mid '60s Lane design I think (CL) w Harry in his lounge chair.

Just curious..it gives me something else to look for at the thrift stores and Craigslist. I get a lot of enjoyment out of matching everything up by time period.

Harry's litter-mate Aiko gave him the boot, as I was playing Opera, her favorite. They like the '70s lounge chair, though it's not in the sweet spot.

I have what I've scrounged, too..I've just been scrounging a long time. I was engaged to an interior designer, too, which probably rubbed off a bit. Forcefully rubbed off, I should add.
 
Wonderful furniture and ambiance for some great systems, I bet. The Mac 1900 looks very cool, too.

My Selig chairs and couches are from the same time period I bet.

Your room upstairs, where we came in from the garage, was really very much like what my place looks like. I just got the Mac home today, it was at Sabah's, and it's getting it's first real listen...sounds fantastic. A lot like my Fisher tube integrated, actually.

Love the furniture. One of my goals is to have a nice loft apartment (or even better, a nice two-story commercial building with an open loft apartment upstairs and a garage/workshop downstairs) outfitted in a mix of danish/mid-century modern furniture and the older "mission" style, with a bit of art deco & nouveau thrown in.

Ha ha...right now it's (mine's stereo!) sitting on top of my Stereo 70, which isn't in any of these pictures. It's right to the right of the Zenith console, maybe you can feel it's presence. (or would that be phase?).
 
Very nice setup! I like the period furnishings, really sets the mood to spin some vinyl on the vintage gear. I hope to have a '50s themed audio room someday.

I always wanted a loft, too, but now that I have one...I wish I had a bigger one, with at least one separate room, or better yet, an open plan house with rooms (like the house in The Incredibles..very mod, but rooms). For example..that big cat, when he does his business, well, there's no getting away from it. You hear it. All of this stuff is essentially in the same room (I'll have to put up pictures of my main system 'rack' and there's another system near the entrance). That makes 5 systems in one room! And somehow it doesn't really look all that cluttered. Every wall but one get's a stereo, and two in the upstairs loft. It's fun and different, and I can listen to any setup I want, but I'd love to have another room (and I had to get a storage unit to keep extra gear).
 
How do the Sony's fit into that decor? They seem a little....ummm....geometric.

If you wanna do something fun, measure the speaker enclosures on the console and we'll whip up a design that can be put in there and you can use it for that system. Could be really cool.

Hey Ray!

I think the Sony's fit right in.

This probably looks odd (living in one big room requires a bit of creativity) but the Sony's are right in the middle of the room, which is sort of divided between two sitting areas.

This would be my main system, with the sweet-spot in the middle of the green couch in the pictures I posted. The couch faces the other system...I can listen to either, though the Mac system is a bit far away when I'm on the couch.

The Sony's work best away from walls, and this is actually the best they've ever sounded.
