Does it make sense to buy a $150 USB cable when your DAC sold for $300 in 2014

USB Hi Quality cable only have sense if you need more current on longer distance for charging your mobile phone with fast charging option. For any distance less then 1.5m any Hi Quality or expensive USB cable does not have any sense. At my home I have about twenty USB cables with different length and prices from 5cm to 5m long and when I test all these cables, always is question about current on different distancences, nothing more then this.

BTW, the exception to my rule is speaker wire. There it is about gauge. I get 16 gauge zip cord, not 24 gauge. When it comes to speaker wire, it's all about gauge.

It really seems like mobile charging is the most challenging application for a USB cable, I'm hard on them as I use my cell phone to run Waze in my car, so I'm always plugging them in and unplugging, and the cables are a constant issue. Eventually after weeks, months, or years they will stop "fast charging" and I'll have to get new ones, and then when I look in my Amazon history to reorder the ones that lasted the longest, and they'll be discontinued, so it's just a crap shoot.

Yep. and once my LG G4 bites the dust, I'll probably go Samsung with their new "iPhone" type reversable cable.

My "new" phone (for the last almost two years) is a HTC 10 with the USB-C connector; rather than buying the special cables I just bought a handful of the little Anker Micro USB to USB-C adapters because everything else I have charges through Micro USB. They work, but the one 6 foot cable on my nightstand isn't getting it done, half the time I have to plug it in 2-3x to get rid of the "charging slowly" message. I think it's the cable not the adapter because I use 3-4 of the adapters elsewhere and they all work fine.
 
Hi Quality USB cable with 5m long which can transfer 2.6A on that distance cost me $15. Connectors are pretty solid and strong construction. I have one more cable with 5m long but with that cable I cant fast charge my mobile phone on that distance. Also with that cable when I connect him to Raspberry Pi 3 then RPi3 sometimes can boot, sometimes not and sometime when it can to boot, then stuck. Charger what I use is able to provide 2.4A current. So, my Hi Quality cable cost me max $15. Also this cable can transfer any data on that distance without any problem.
If one time I buy Hi Quality USB cable for more then $50 then I want from that USB cable to cook me lunch and dinner.
