Do you feel that someone who has tried hard to express themseves well irrespective of their language skills impresses you more than a person whose posts are full of swear words or inappropriate language?

Yes, but I also appreciate clear understandable text with proper spelling, punctuation, and correct use of words.

I can excuse a bit of swearing as it can sometimes, to me, appear amusing, but gives exactly the opposite effect if overused or used unnecessarily.

Since you have joined this site you keep making post like this, complaining about how the site is run, how members use the site, how members enjoy the hobby and camaraderie.

How about a thread on "Do Member Like All These Judgmental Threads By Gryphon?"

I find a little profanity acceptable, but I wouldn't post anything here that I wouldn't say in front of my mother (if that means anything).

Excessive profanity (to me) is just inappropriate and distracts from the point attempting to be made--it just "dumbs down" the conversation, for lack of a better term.

This is an international forum, so for some members American English is a second or perhaps even third language, so grammatical errors or errors of translation are to be expected and don't bother me at all. In fact, most of those members make more of an effort to be grammatically correct than us Americans.

Why do you start threads that get locked and deleted all the time?

This is the same judgmental thread and the very same topic that you know will cause conflict. A thread that Tinkerbelle closed and made a very nice comment at the end for one to think about.

I really never encountered excessive profanity on this forum. Don't see it as a problem at all. But being from Philly, I can handle it if I run into it.

It seems to me that overweening hubris and vacuous logic are far more common distractions on the forum.
