Does This Device Exist?

Not sure if anything like this exists, however is there any such thing as an external VU meter device?

I like how VU meters look, however do not have one on my current amp. Was not sure if any company has every created an external/stand-alone VU meter box which could be hooked to an amp to monitor its use?

Are you really looking for VU meters or power meters? They are not the same.

Logitek makes professional VU meters (analog and digital).

Look up the Pioneer RG1 processor.. Should fit the bill...

Or build your own, PX has the boards, and meters you need.

There are a few others on the site that DIY the meters, some cool threads, do some digging and you will find them! :)

That Technics is a cool unit! I'd have one if my power amp didn't have big VU meters already.

Pioneer also made some, even with a scope:

Or you could pick up a cassette deck for peanuts with vu meters that tickle your fancy and use that through your tape loop.

VU meter readings in dB or rms equivalents of true peak levels in volts is done by the Crown OC-150(a). It switches three sets of speakers, monitors three amps, selects two headphones for the second amp and can show line voltage.

Lots of pics on the web of the unit.
