Does this make any difference?

It's cheap, but works great. With my tables the scale sits as the same level as the mat and a average LP combined. Takes about 3 weeks to arrive on the slow boat from China.

Just ordered it along with the 5-gram calibration weight (sold separately). No problem about waiting (I'm a very patient person). :)

My scale is very simple...a "Tri-Planar"... takes the stylus right to the vinyl level.

You mean it measures 0.1 grams more when lifting the arm? Probably is the mass centre of the cartridge rather low in that case.

When the tonearm is level I get one reading, when the headshell is elevated relative to the arm itself I get a reading that is typically 0.1 grams heavier.

Thanks. I realized that the only thing is really to test our own situation. Some is getting a lower reading when elevating the headshell, some is getting a higher. One thing that struck me as important is how the counterweight stub is pointing, I have seen some that are leaning downwards a little, this will effect the reading also.

Thanks for the tip! I got the same scale...

...from a different seller for about the same price, and it's just what was needed. Arrived in nine days, too. One nice thing about this model is that it uses common AAA cells (not included). UPDATE: Tried getting another one, and it can't find zero and stay there, just keeps rolling nonsense numbers on the display. The first defective cheap scale I've gotten out of the ten or so I've had over the years. Emptors should caveat.
