Dual 1218 rubbing noise only when using stacking spindle

I just fixed up a 1218 (just needed relube mostly) but I noticed something that happens only when using the stacking spindle.

I hear a sort of rubberish rubbing noise and that happens even if a single record is on. It's every revolution and it's 2 sounds, one after the other, like whaa whAA.

Doesn't effect play back at all I hear no changes in pitch or anything.

What could this be? I used all the right lubes but maybe didnt add enough to some component?

Frankly don't understand how multiplay mechanism really works so kind of at a loss.

Hey sorry I don't want this very specific technical question to get highjacked by the EXTREMELY well worn debate around record stacking. I've made my decision to stack records and I'm aware of how polarizing the feature is.

Just looking for info on my issue with the noise and want to learn more about how the mechanism works so I can fiddle with it.
 
I wonder if it's something as simple as maybe it needing lube where the stacking spindle inserts.

Gremlins.

Reminds me of when I used to work for this one company in the field and we always worked good and hard. We took breaks but never overstepped. The company's owner would occasionally swing by the sites to see how things were progressing and it seemed every time he did we happened to be on break.

"Do you guys ever work?" Naw, you just have the habit of stopping when we break.
