Dual 1219 Catches when returning.

My Dual 1219 has moments when returning the arm to the rest it will catch and stop around where approx song 2 would be at. When it does that and I try to ease it back to the rest stand there is something that the arm catches on and it will make a click after a moment then I can get it back.

Any Ideas where or what to look for?

Yes, steuerpimpel - the clutch between the tonearm assembly and the main cam shaft. It's most likely worn out and at end of life. See that post to the left of the tonearm base with a knurled black plastic cap? It adjusts the tonearm height, but it may also temporarily fix the gap your steuerpimpel needs for a good grip. You can very carefully try to adjust that cap, no more than a quarter turn at a time. See if it fixes the problem.

Yes it does randomly hesitate.

It's very likely the clutch/glider/steuerpimpel mentioned above. You can find them on ebay...I'd recommend not buying any listed for over 10 bucks each. There are some greedy sellers around. The best I've found come from a German seller and are red. They look and work most like the originals. I bought 50 from him recently.

I had a similar issue with my 1229. Maybe the 1219 is similar?

There is a black plastic piece behind the arm (see photo) that must be carefully aligned so the arm does not bind on it. When you look at yours and move the arm, it will be more obvious. Mine used to bind slighly and do the same thing. When you loosen the screw, the plastic piece can be readjusted.

Not sure what the purpose of that piece is.....it's been a while since I've looked at it

Yes, that's another possibility...a more advanced class there. If the pimpel doesn't do the trick, that would be another thing to check. The 1229 and 1219 are pretty much identical in that way.
