Two nights ago, I was listening to a record on headphones. The last track on the side started to sound pretty bad - like the stylus was clogged with lint. I checked the stylus and it looked fine, so I shut everything off and called it a night. (Note: I'm not sure if this sound issue is related to the problem at hand). Yesterday, I wanted to play a new record, but first since I had the weird audio issues the night before, I cut the power, removed the cartridge sled, checked the alignment of the cart and reinstalled it. Put the record on and I wasn't getting any audio. Here's what I've since done and do know:
Does anyone have an idea of what could be going on? I don't see any capacitors or any kind of electronics inside the TT. Thank you for your help!
- Checked all the cable connections.
- I installed a second cart on a second sled to see if the first cart died - the problem persisted.
- I checked the mute switch, it seems fine. I recently installed new RCA cables, steurpimples, and lubed the turntable (a couple months ago). New solder points looked fine. It was working great until yesterday.
- I can hear a faint, normal audio click through headphones when starting a record, so I doubt the issue is with my receiver. I do run the audio signal through a fairly cheap phono preamp before going into my receiver, which does not have a phono input. I have a second amp that I want to run the TT RCA cables into to see if it is a preamp issue.
- I double checked all my receiver settings
Does anyone have an idea of what could be going on? I don't see any capacitors or any kind of electronics inside the TT. Thank you for your help!
