Dual 1229 vs 1229Q

Right on..

They're all gorgeous to those of us who like the more classic, industrial turntable look instead of a lot of the goofy looking modern stuff.

:D

Doug

Love the looks. Have a 1219,1229 and 1010S. The later is a clone of my first Dual. Even my entry 1010 sounds good! Have the 1229 going as I pen this:D

Eric

PS, the 1229Q was for four channel CD4 records. It did not last long as a format though. May 3 yrs tops.

I have fixed so many 1229, that a few have come to me with FACTORY low-capacitance arm wire and a different anti-skate adjustment knob calibrated for CD-4.

I am a dual fan myself and I have a 1229Q that I love. I just like the looks of the old duals. I also have a 1009 that is quite nice also but is due for a lubing.

I can't say exactly why, but after having worked on both 10XX and 12XX models I prefer the 10XX, particularly the 1019. My other keeper is a 1009. I do think that they are better built and I prefer the appearance.

I am sitting here, bent over from another kidney stone and doing little else [just damped a platter, but that is it for today]. So, while I squirm around, it is a good time to play on the computer.
I found this OLD thread on 1229 vs 1229Q, and am trying to not laugh too hard, which might just make me break into tears.

Everyone, including the 'experts' had their own answer, and none were correct.

Time for another large glass of water.

Sorry about the stones. Selling a 1229. My last. Married to the 1219s. Feel better.
