Dual 701 w/Grado ZC+

I bought a 1219 and 1019 from Bill. Sold the 1219, still have and very much enjoy the 1019. Both times he told me that the best Dual, or at least his favorite, was the 701. I only wanted an idler so I passed on the 701. But he for sure endorsed it.
 
Quibble, quibble, quibble.............. you like Ford, I like GM. All the larger Duals are excellent TT/TAs. Pick your poison and be happy.

Over $1,500. Good turntable, but that is insane.

I have three here.

Enough to pay this coming Winter's heating bill.

That's insane indeed, but that's for being NIB... the funny thing is, meaning it's been sitting in a box for decades and never used, it probably needs maintenance more direly than a specimen that's been used and well cared for since the 70s...

Julian was an engineer who stuck to the the facts, unlike so many of today's know-nothing reviewers who haven't a clue how the devices they're reviewing work, and invent flowery words to describe how they "sound". These are, after all, highly technical devices being reviewed, not poetry. They require highly technical reviews by technically knowledgeable reviewers.

Agree 100%! As we all know, we hear differently. Some love certain tables, other hate them. By having a reviewer review the technical merits, gives you a better idea of the table itself. You still need to have a listen, but at least you can weed out gear that rates lower than others with it's specs.

I have three "bohhey" Duals, a 701, 1229Q, and 1019 and I really love the 701. Each Dual brings something different to the table but if I could only keep one Dual it would be the 701. I've read different posts over the years where people are critical of the 701 and just laugh them off because hearing is believing and I'm 100% happy with mine. I use a Shure V-15 III DU cartridge with a Jico SAS stylus on my 701 and 1229Q.
