Dual CS-5000 Speed Issue Help

I am stumped and I need help. Not too long ago I purchased a beautiful Dual CS-5000 turntable. The seller informed me that it was having issues locking in at 33. Naive me figured how hard could it be!

I have spent hours scouring AK and the internet learning about potential fixes. I have purchased three different belts (two from recommended South Street) and have replaced the two power capacitors. No improvement.

I am sure the problem will sound familiar. I start the table at 33 but it will not lock and drop the needle. I can change it to 45 and 78 and it will lock and drop. Sometimes if I switch to 33 while it is running at 45 it will lock but is inconsistent. I used my RPM app to monitor the speed and it runs fast (34 to 34.6) and when it does lock and drop it will start off about .3 slow and will slowly increase to the correct speed.

I have read maybe try recapping the motor board? Any advise beyond sell it for parts and give up?

Is everyone stumped out there? I just replaced two more capacitors on the motor board. Still no improvement. Any ideas would really be appreciated.
 
If I recall there are two capacitors that likely need changing - I had speed issues with my table changed these and speed was dead on. It was several years ago - maybe do a search on CS5000 capacitors.

Thanks for the reply. I did replace the two capacitors that have been mentioned on several posts as well as the two small capacitors on the motor board.
 
I cleaned and greased the spindle last night with white lithium and cleaned and lubed the motor shaft with a touch of 3 and 1. Unfortunately still no change. It seams to fluctuate speeds so could it be other capacitors going bad? I’ve replaced the two large ones on the power board and the two on the motor board. I think tonight I will try to replace the remaining ones to see if that has any impact. Unfortunately I don’t have an oscilloscope.

Which board are you referring to. I replaced the Board Part # 279605 1. Not sure if the 1 is at the end or not. Anyway I have that board for the CS-5000. It is used but worked perfect before I replaced it with a new board. I changed something else to correct my problem and just put it away and almost forgot about it. PM me if interested.
 
I am having the same problem with my CS-5000. I'm going to work on it this afternoon and will report back.
 
I went to work on mine and just started it and it is now working, and I can't get it to fail. Sometimes I just scare things into working. I will get back with this if it fails again. I use it pretty regularly.
 
Did you actually get the correct belt for the turntable. It is a FRZ 25.8 Most of the ones for sale for the CS 5000 are the 25.0 and they are just a bit too small. Causes delay and failure of the arm to drop.

I got my belt from www.vintage-electronics.net it has been working fine for a couple years, just started acting up last month. Yesterday when I was going to repair it, it wouldn't act up.
