Dual CV-1600 vs Kenwood KA-8100

Hello,

As in topic - will Kenwood KA-8100 be significantly superior than Dual CV-1600?
Currently I have Dual and I am quite satisfied with sound, but I have possibility to buy Kenwood in reasonable price. I am tempted by it, but I don't know if there will be significant difference.

Anybody owned that two? or can compare them by their "construcion/technology"?

It appears the Dual is just a single power transformer and the Kenwood is a Dual power transformer. This can help the power delivery of the Kenwood and the separation, being basically two mono amps on one chassis depending on how far they took the dual power supply idea.

The Dual is 60 wpc the Kenwood is 75, a little bump so that might provide a bit extra punch but not very much volume increase. It takes 2 times the power to make it noticeably louder (3dB) and 10 times the power to make it twice as loud (10dB).

I think that the difference in these might boil down to house sound. The Kenwood should be a nice clean sound, not mushy like tubes, but not a crisp, fast sound that was a hallmark of their next designs with thier Hi-Speed technology.

I haven't used the Dual.

Overall, I would need to hear them or know that I needed more power before I would have to make a move.
