nice haul on the gear :thmbsp: everyone seems so happy with the mc gear but im more interested in those ampex consoles and what model number are they 350, 351? i personally think those are the best find of the gear except possibly the thorens

I won't repeat all the "oh my God, haul of a lifetime" sentiments... that's obvious!
What I find very sad, though, is all those tapes sloshing around in the dumpster... and what might have been on them. As someone said, they --well, what may have been recorded on them-- might have been worth more than all the other gear put together. [Of course, they might also have been pure worthless schlock, too... but not likely.]
I was listening today to an obscure old radio show from the 1930s, and in one scene --set in Hong Kong, although recorded in California-- they had Chinese music, actually traditional Cantonese Opera, played for a minute or so. I thought about how rare actual recordings of Chinese Opera from that period are today, and how cool it was to stumble across a surviving recorded bit like that. While some old 78s from that period still survive in collections, much music wasn't recorded, or was sold in smaller numbers and after revolution and wars, some titles may even have completely disappeared.
Similarly, I wonder how many never-released pieces, even if only jingles, might have been on those tapes, now lost forever. [Of course it might also have been the guy's Englebert Humperdink collection... ]
Anyway, it's great that you saved what you did, and what great finds they are, too! Well done and congratulations! :thmbsp:
