DVD players$400-800 what the best buy

Thinking of adding a denon 2910 dvd player to my HT any opinions. Is there another option I should be looking at ?

DO IT!!!!! I bought a Denon 2910 for the DVD audio and SACD capabilities. Prior to the Denon I had an NAD 524. On regular CD (16 bit 44) playback, the Denon SHATTERED the NAD! I mean night and day difference! DVD Audio is awesome, and the SACD section rocks as well. I'm not a huge movie person, but the picture to me seems great. For the $600 price tag you can't be this player for audio. :thmbsp:

At that price point there are several good ones. Depending on what you want to do. Upscaling ?? If so then the Denon 2910 and the Yamaha 2500 are my favorites. Also in that price range (on a deal) sits the Pioneer Elite 59AVi that is considered a great player.

Dualhead where have you seen the denon for $600 I keep getting quote over $700

does anyone have an opinion on the yamaha dvd-s2500? i just returned my denon 2910. even with the firmware update, it would not reliably play dvd-audio discs.

I think he's probably talking US$. I would expect it to be closer to 800 Canadian.

Sorry about the delay!!! I bought mine from Tweeter. I think it was around $650.

I bought my Yamaha C750 from etronics at a real bargain. They have the 2910 for $589.

My vote does go to the denons, they are quite nice all around.
