Dynaco A-25 grill cloth replacement

Just got a pair of Dynaco A-25's an have screwed up the grill cloth on one. There was a black stain on the bottom rt. corner and I thought with a little water, it could be removed. It spread. There is a dye on the wood frame so never let water get near these grills. Any suggestions for replacment fabric? I will replace both. I am a Smaller Advent fan(4 pr.) but kept hearing about the great reputation of the A-25. On first listenening, not impressed. This opinion changed with further listening. Not as detailed on the hi-end as the Advents but if in the "sweet spot" ,the imaging is superb. Very low frequencies are more accurate. For most listening the Advent are still preferred but for Jimi Hendrix(for some reason), The Dynacos are far superior.

This information was posted in another forum about 4 years ago. I don't know if the material is still available, but it may be worth a shot:

I recently acquired a pair of Dynaco A-25s, and the grille cloths were pretty well shot. I found a VERY close match at a fabric store.
Here are the details:
Maker: Yale
Color: Marble
Bolt/SKU: 937 YALEMAR (at Calico Corners, where I ordered this)
Cost: $21.99/yard (a yard is twice as much as you need)
Source: Cut-to-Order Fabrics, 20 Gale Lane, Kennett Square, PA 19348
This stuff is the same color, weave and (most important) weight as the original, and appears acoustically transparent.

Hope this helps.

Thanks fellas. The more I listen to the A-25, the more I like them. Very accurate and seductive.

I owned large advents and also own a-25's maybe crossover or pots need cleaning. I think the dynaco sound better. I also have a-50's that sound even better. I picked up a set of dynaco a-25's and the grills and nameplates look great. I didn't know water will make dye run. thanks for the tip.

Man, I was looking for that fabric post a few weeks ago and couldn't find it! Have a pair of A10s that need a refreshing. Thanks. :thmbsp:
