Dynaco A-25 vs. New Large Advent

Dynaco is more efficient then the Advent, takes less power to drive. Marantz 2215b only has 15 WRMS per channel.
 
15w would just piss NLA’s off, I’m running my A25’s with a 35wpc tube Integrated which seems to be a good match in my space.
 
The 2215 will run them but barely. It will be taxed to the max. They will sound fat and distort early, on top first, then the bottom next.
 
Well, give the 2215 some credit, they are true 15 watts RMS. At 9 o'clock volume position with A25s, they will have a room filling level. If that is the level you seek, it should be fine. The fact is I have many high powered amps in the house (120 watts + per channel (RMS) and barely use a couple of watts.
 
The Dynaco's yes, the Advent's no. They will drain it. The head room will be at knee level. No power left for dynamics. It will sound like mud very early.
I have a 2226b. It's marginal with the OLA Advent's in a neutral 14x16 room.
 
Many years ago, I owned the Dynaco A25 and later acquired the larger walnut Advents and then replaced those with the New larger walnut Advents. These were driven with a tube Dynaco PAS 3X and a McIntosh MC225 tube power amp. At that time I had many friends and we did extensive listening between the Dynacos and Larger Advents.

Without any hesitation, we all agreed that the Advents had better dynamics (less compression), imaged bette (deeper soundstage), and produced deeper bass without boominess.

The A25s was good but seemed to compress dynamics compared to the larger Advents. In general, the Advents were simply better sounding across the spectrum on my old system and the systems of some of my friends.

The newer large Advent was a bit brighter than the original but frankly I regretted spending the money. Not too long ago I picked up a pair of larger Advents for my son and then a second pair for an extra system. I replaced the non polarized electrolytic in the cross over with military spec polypropylene caps. On comparison, the change was stunning. With the new caps, the Advents were much smoother on the upper midrange and treble while producing more detail (less smearing).

Just for reference my current systems use Martin Logan Ascent i's and B&W 803s.
 
I own both and enjoy them equally, For me it was about finding the right synergy. The NLA easy to do so but the A25’s took some trial and error . Once I paired it with a HK-330b receiver it was a musical marriage in heaven. Everything I heard from the Advents was now present with the Dynaco’s. The Harman Kardon for me bought out the magic of the A25’s. Can listen to this combination all day & night.

There’s no clear better. You’ll get opinions favoring either one. Back in the day (1970’s), when I had both, I preferred the original Large Advent for its more room filling bass. I later traded the originals for the New Large Advents which I liked even better. YMMV.

I have never owned Advent, own 2 sets of A25 in my office and A30 in my living-room, would those compare to Advent?

I’ve never owned Advent but own 2 sets of A25 and 1 of A30, absolutely love them both
 
I have a pair of Dynaco A-25X's paired up with a Sansui 771, which are in a small office setup. I found these speakers to just shine in my room. I have done some acoustic treatment to the room which seems to have further improved listening. I actually traded a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 225's for the Dynaco's as I had a chance to listen to them for a while before making the deal. I can explain why I like them better than the Diamonds, but there ya go.
